Emerging art talk

My core belief is that the creative process is a form of sacred and personal dialogue that takes place between the artist, her/his heart, mind, ego and the miracle of art process. Something so fragile but so strong at the same time. Art process and just the process, is what attracts me in creativity more than the finished product. That moment that is timeless and exists in a different reality, that short glimpse of seeing beyond and truly inwards, listening to silent voice of your heart. Emerging the personal art talk is more what people like to call "therapy" - it is the way of communication and way of functioning- being creatively authentic to yourself...

Creative cycle

I am getting more and more interested in exploration of psychology of creativity and its connection with inner growth as well as self-awareness. For some people creativity is just about "making" art, the painting, the sculpture or whatever form it takes. But for those involved in creativity on regular basis there is something more once they let it take a core centre of their life. There is that power of creative life that goes beyond "making" and affect our cognitive skills. The creativity can teach us to be humble, self-accepting, face the failure and growth- all on regular basis and even at the same time! Creative cycle is the way creativity comes back to us and want us to move on, step outside the comfort zone and learn, learn and learn again...

My adventure with Subconscious Collage project for Art journaling has come to the end. It feels like the time has come to move on to new projects and bringing something creatively new to life. We have been together on the journey of 7 episodes talking about different subjects and emotions. We created on subjects like Fear, Self-acceptance and Self-care. We looked for lost Joy and questioned our Identity concept. Finaly we embraced the subject of constant Change. It has been a privilege for me to see your work, the bloom of creativity and its healing power. Thank you to all who shared with me their life stories and how creating is impacting their life in a new way. What is next around the corner for me and you then?

Failing Creatively

Failure- not so much popular subject is it? Not many posts on social media of our creative failures, attempts that do not lead anyway or turn out to be something totally different. Creative failure- does it exist? How can we redefine the failure to actually incorporate it into a creative process? First of all try to say and imagine the expression "failure" without the negative connotation. Can you? Why is our mind so resistant to understand and accept failure? Is that because failure equals rejection? Rejection of what? Self-worth, self-importance or maybe it defines us  in the way we do not like to show? Let's fail creatively!

Artist self- talk

People say that talking to yourself is a first sign of madness. How about talking to yourself about art (mad enough?) and then recording it and making a clip! Artist self-talk is the inspiration for the series "Behind the journals". So far there are 3 clips where I question self-expression, emotional release and state of mind- all having important role in a creative process. Behind the journals is more about the mind talk than picking up the brush. All because to be able to pick up a brush, open your journal and give it a start you need to talk- often talk to yourself...

Subconscious Collage for Art Journaling Episode 6 is now out. This time I am sharing my slower process and you can see the page spread built during 2 days. Some layers are taken off and incorporated into the page in a different way. Lots of combining, exploring, taking time and waiting for the creative process to flow.

Slower art journaling

Art journaling and your approach to it is like a life journey- it keeps changing, developing and growing as you do. That is the magic of this visual form of art- it is so close to human expression and need to connect with inner world that is able to take you to new places of your own personality. The process may be not straight forward, often difficult and full of disappointment, but by the end of day you get a priceless reward in a form of seeing your own ego and being able to overcome it. I am not such a master yet, far away from that but I am definitely trying to steer in that direction. Hence the reason my art journaling process is becoming slower and more complex. Here is the last week adventure...

Pain of creative change and transition

Creative life and connecting with you true artist within is so much more than sitting in your studio with paper and art supplies. I deeply believe once you had started being genuinely involved in process of making art it goes so far beyond that. It becomes your self development project and in result your life starts being devoted to digging deeper into the creative voice and it is not one off happening. It is the process of constant renewal, where you go from one stage to another all the time: ready to try, fail, accept and move on.

Episode 5 of Subconscious Collage for Art Journaling is now out! This time I am trying to get you thinking on the matter of self-care. Something we tend to ignore, temporally put at the back of our mind just to find out later that forgetting about it brings more trouble. Self-care is not being selfish either self-centred. It is a necessary part of  functioning, required background for your personal growth. Saying that we all know how difficult it is as there is feeling of guilt, duty and devotion that keeps popping up in our mind when we need to say "no" to certain things and "yes" to ourselves.
