So...big news is...that 4 years ago I was a student of 21 Secrets workshop that helped me to take first steps in this creative journey. I took the classes without any art experience, simply trusting that my creativity and willingness to learn be enough to do it. This year almost 4 years later I am one of the teachers for embody edition! We have a line up of 21 amazing teachers (including painters like Olga Furman, Renata Loree and Kara Bullock) as well as art journales like Amanda Grace - all touching with their unique art approach, subjects like healing, body image, self-acceptance. And of course it is just me having the most complicated name among them all with no doubt! :)
I am more than thrilled to let you know that Anne-Marie van Eck will be bringing her art workshops to England. We combined our strengths together and prepared for you collaborative project! So all who complained about her not coming to UK please now stay quiet! It will be my small debut in the world of group workshops so I am very excited too...and all to be happening in my local area, close to where I live so feels like a dream!
I feel like art has a strong ability to create a sense of hope. Hope not only in terms of artistic growth but hope in general when we see beyond challenges and circumstances, beyond limitations and obstacles of life. Creating is being open to failure, being ready for painful slap when you do not meet your own expectations. Despite that why do we return to creating because of hunger for expression, need of creativity? Yes but the most importantly we return because of..hope.
I have been creating variety of art and creative things for over 3 years now. Art journals are my speciality but my creative adventure is far beyond that in forms of paintings, assemblage, variety of collage, art blog writing, filming inspirational clips and more. The stage you get to after the initial brave start, then exploring more and more, is the...real fun stage. This is when you start going deeper with your art, communicating more - but what is the most magical is the skill to let go expectations and create purely for the process of "art happening". You are now able to re-use your own art as personal attachment is lower, being free to mess about, accept failure without worry and move on. Almost like the best life coaching session ever- just with the use of your own creativity!?
So back to my wonders and thoughts about engaging with creative process. Do we make art to make or do we process the art making? Lots of people have a concept of art as "making something"- preferably something visual that can be seen or touch. Then we suddenly walk into a totally different tribe of people making art for just the sake of making, they on about the process and processing things through the art, through painting, lines and marks making, splashing colours, cutting pieces of paper, and other activities involving art materials or even not art materials but used in a new way.
I would like to let you know that I am one of the contributing artists to a digital, interactive e-book creative experience created by Susan Nicolai. "Art to heal your soul" is a collaboration of 20 artists who prepared for you 30 days art journal prompts. It is a mixture of style, art and digital expression. It can also be purchased as a gift for a creative friend or just for yourself indulgence:) So let's look what included in the project? And...I am giving away one free access to this course!
I have to confess I am guilty of a solitude indulgence in art. Yes I am that type that locks themselves in a studio for hours and love that sacred intimacy of own creativity. However daily life and some roles we take in life not always support my idea of heaven. Often I try to create when my other duties are off. So preferably when the lovely family is at work or school. So it has not been a surprise that summer school holidays are a bit challenging for appearance of my muse...
My humble, seasonal publication I called ARTstirrer-the collection of images and words to shake the creativity up, is now 1 year old! It was November 2015 when I created the first one. It has changed a bit since then: there is Pinterest inspiration, Talking painting and updates on filming projects. During 12 months there were 9 issues, so I hope at least some brought an inspiration to you. Happy anniversary to ARTstirrer!
Somebody made that assumption once that the process of making art should be only "relaxing”. That vision of the painter with a smile on his face when paining another bunch of flowers or sunset…Well not so much in my case...
